Measured the associations of students' personal adjustment, interpersonal communication, and peer relationships with their subsequent achievement and continuation in college. Results suggest that efforts to improve relations between students in the residence halls may increase their achievement and retention in college. (ABB)

Those students involved in roommate changes who stayed in a room and those who moved from a room could not be differentiated by any demographic or academic variables. Sex, class level, and GPA were significant predictors of which alternatives students would choose after moving out of a room. (Author)

Women living in homogeneous, as opposed to heterogeneous, residence halls described themselves as more intellectual, more content, and more exuberant. Grouping students according to commonality of curriculum appears to suggest that supportive, growth-enhancing environments can easily be established without undue involvement by the staff. (Author)
