Abstract:Aim: This survey was led to image the education, student profiles and perspectives of the jobs of students who were trained in the programming of Medical Documentation and Secretaryship (MDS) and Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) under the four different universities' departments of Health Services Vocational College (HSVC) in Turkey the during the educational period of 2005-2006. Material-Methods: The survey was held during the period of 2006's January and February final examinations of Zonguldak Karaelmas University (ZKU), Erciyes University (EU), Ondokuz Mayis University (OMU) and Firat University (FU), and had an access to freshmen and sophomores of both departments. A 53-question poll concerning the subjects on students' socio-demographic qualities, profiles, the departments they are trained in, the duration of the training, their jobs and social activities, was conducted in the research. The Findings and the Consequences: After the research, it is stated that in four of the universities, most of the students were between 18-23, female students outnumbered the male students; except for OMU, the other three universities' students of MDS outnumbered the students of MLT, also the number of the students graduated from vocational high schools is more than the number of those graduated from the other high schools. When other findings are analyzed, it is observed that students of all four universities' had basic families consist of a mother, a father and children; spent around or below 300 YTLs per month, also pointing their parents for the source of income; most of them were content with the programming they were trained by; gathered information before the registration period; acknowledged their jobs; content with the quality of education they were given and stated that they would have chose the same job if a chance was given once more to them.
