Abstract:
Initiated in 1971, the Child Development Associate (CDA) National Credentialing Program is a major national effort to evaluate and improve the skills of caregivers in center-based, family day care, and home visitor programs. Part I of this book presents an overview of the CDA National Credentialing Program and the competency standards and assessment system for home visitors. Part 2 presents the eligibility requirements and information collection responsibilities of the four members of the local team that conducts the evaluation of a candidate for the CDA credential. Part 3 contains the complete CDA competency standards for home visitors. The appendices in part 4 include a history of the CDA program and a glossary of terms. (RH)
